This poster
by Bonnie MacLean was one of the few early posters that was made
by using a four-color separation...a very expensive process in
those days (the artist may have been paid $100-$250 for their
work, but this separation would have cost an additional $350 at
least). I can only imagine that Bill got some kind of deal on
this because of his volume of business with local printers. It
didn't make economic sense for him to pop for the extra cost of
a separation. Bill was VERY money-conscious!
Almost all
the posters you see in my collection were made using black-and-white
"mechanicals," where the artist worked in layers of
B&W for each color...a much cheaper way of proceeding. After
all, these posters were giveaway items when you bought a ticket
for the concert.
Staple holes
in the four corners, otherwise perfect.
